A few fresh mint leaves

Preparation
Place the mint leaves and cane sugar in a sturdy glass and gently crush them with a pestle. This will release the essential oils of the mint without making them bitter.
Then add the lemon juice and vodka, stir vigorously and fill the glass to the rim with ice cubes.
Top up with sparkling mineral water, stir gently and garnish with a sprig of mint.
The result: a drink that is light, aromatic and wonderfully refreshing.
It tastes like an afternoon on an Italian terrace – sunny, carefree and a little cheeky.
Recipe story
The “smash” is a real oldie among cocktails. It was served in American bars as early as the mid-19th century – originally with whiskey or brandy.
It owes its name to the ” smashing” of the ingredients: Herbs, fruit and sugar were lightly crushed to release their aromas.
The Lemon Vodka Smash is the modern, lighter version – with vodka, lemon and fresh mint. A drink that tastes of summer, freedom and spontaneity.
